Getting There and Parking
By Train
Knaresborough station, managed by Northern, has regular trains to and from York, Harrogate and Leeds. The organiser says Leeds trains run every 30 minutes; its pages disagree on whether York trains are half-hourly or hourly, so check before you travel. The station is about 200 metres from the Market Place in a straight line (from the coordinates), up Kirkgate. National Rail says the platforms are step-free, though this may be by long or steep ramps or via streets, and there are no lifts. The organiser's travel page mentions £2 Northern tickets from Leeds and York for the market weekend: check Northern's site to see whether they are on sale for 2026.

Park and Ride
The organiser runs a free park and ride all weekend from the GSPK car park on Manse Lane (HG5 8LF), signed off the A59, to Chapel Street beside the Market Place. Buses run from 8am to 5.30pm, with two buses at peak times and a journey of about 10 minutes depending on traffic. The gates stay open until 7pm for anyone walking back after the last bus, which takes about 20 minutes. The buses are single deckers that take wheelchairs and pushchairs, and dogs are allowed on board. The organiser strongly advises using it, because road closures leave little parking near the market.

Parking
Parking near the Market Place is limited by the weekend's road closures, and the organiser's advice is to use the free park and ride instead. North Yorkshire Council's Chapel Street and Fisher Street car parks are the closest but small, with a four-hour limit. York Place is the large long-stay one, and Conyngham Hall and Waterside are down by the river. All five are open 24 hours, and the council says parking is free for disabled users. Prices read October 2026.

Accessibility
The organiser's access information covers getting in rather than the stalls themselves. The free park and ride buses are single deckers with the usual access for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and they drop on Chapel Street beside the Market Place. The pedestrian area is made larger for the weekend by closing roads. North Yorkshire Council says parking is free for disabled users in its Knaresborough car parks. National Rail rates the station as step-free to all platforms, possibly by long or steep ramps or via streets.

What Else Is On
The weekend ends with a firework finale over the viaduct at 4.30pm on Sunday 6 December 2026, lasting ten minutes or so and best seen from the castle top or the riverside. St John's Church, just beyond the station, holds its Christmas Tree Festival with more than 70 decorated trees: entry is free, and it is open 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and 12pm to 4pm on the Sunday. There is free live entertainment in the Market Place on both days. Mother Shipton's Cave runs a Christmas experience that must be booked in advance; the organiser's page gives no dates for it.

Where to Stay
Knaresborough is a small town and everything is close together: the Market Place, the castle, the High Street and the station are within five minutes of each other on foot, with the riverside a steep walk below. Harrogate, a few miles away, has many more rooms and is a short train or bus ride from the market.
