Getting There and Parking

By Train

Oxford station is the nearest. The organiser says Broad Street is a 15-minute walk from the station, or five minutes by bike, and that there are frequent direct trains from London Paddington and Birmingham New Street. The station is managed by Great Western Railway and National Rail lists step-free access to all platforms. Buses stop close to the market on George Street and Magdalen Street West.

Park and Ride

This is how most drivers visit: the organiser says parking in Oxford is limited and most people use the park and ride. There are five sites on the ring road. Until 31 March 2027 a £3 combined ticket covers up to 16 hours' parking and return bus travel for up to five people (read October 2026). Buy it at the site or on RingGo and show it to the driver; it is valid on any Stagecoach, Oxford Bus Company or Thames Travel bus that stops in the site. Blue Badge holders park free in any bay. The council's pages do not give last bus times.

Parking

City centre parking is scarce and dear. The council's three central car parks are all cashless and you pay on arrival. Gloucester Green is the closest to Broad Street but is underground with no lift, and the council calls it unsuitable for disabled users, wheelchairs and prams. Worcester Street and Oxpens are further west and south. None of the three gives a Blue Badge concession, although Worcester Street and Oxpens have disabled bays. Prices were read in October 2026.

Accessibility

The organiser publishes little. It says Broad Street is fully pedestrianised apart from the cycle lane, that temporary toilets are placed by the bar, and that assistance dogs are welcome. It does not mention accessible toilets, step-free routes or quiet sessions, and for anything else it refers visitors to a general guide to getting around Oxford city centre. If you need a particular facility, ask the organiser before you travel.

Quiet Times to Visit

The organiser says the market can be very busy, especially at weekends, and gives that as a reason it may not suit dogs. It does not name quieter hours. The stalls keep shorter hours than the bar and food area (to 6pm Sunday to Wednesday, 8pm Thursday to Saturday), so a weekday daytime visit is the safest bet for seeing everything open with fewer people about.

Where to Stay

Broad Street is in the middle of the old city, so anywhere in the centre is five to ten minutes away on foot: around the station and Gloucester Green to the west, Jericho to the north, or the High Street and Magdalen Bridge end to the east. Summertown, Headington and Botley are bus rides rather than walks, though all have frequent services into the centre.
