Getting There and Parking

By Train

The organiser says Birmingham has three mainline stations, all within easy walking distance of the market: New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill. New Street is the closest to the stalls, which run along New Street itself and up into Victoria Square; it is roughly a quarter of a mile from the square in a straight line. Snow Hill is about a third of a mile away and Moor Street a little under half a mile, again in a straight line. New Street is managed by Network Rail and has step-free access to all platforms, Moor Street is managed by Chiltern Railways and Snow Hill by West Midlands Railway.

Parking

The market sits inside Birmingham's Clean Air Zone, so check whether your vehicle is charged before driving in. The city council's nearest car parks are listed below with the charges shown in October 2026. Charges apply 24 hours a day except Christmas Day, and Blue Badge holders park free with no time limit in council car parks. Note that the Town Hall and Snow Hill multi-storeys have no passenger lifts, and Snow Hill and Dudley Street lock at 11.30pm (9pm on Sundays). Great Charles Street is the cheap one at weekends: £6 all day until midnight if you arrive on a Saturday or Sunday.

Accessibility

The organiser says the whole market can be reached by wheelchair users, because there are routes round Victoria Square and New Street that avoid the steps. Accessible toilets are next to the stage on Victoria Square, and baby changing is in the same block. Shopmobility in the Bullring hires out powered scooters and wheelchairs (0121 632 1526). Blue Badge bays are spread around the city centre, and badge holders park free in council car parks, but the organiser warns that the council multi-storey nearest the market has no lift. Assistance dogs are welcome.

Quiet Times to Visit

The organiser is plain about this: weekends are very busy, and Friday and Saturday evenings are the most crowded times of all. Weekdays and Sunday evenings tend to be quieter. If you are bringing a dog, a pushchair or anyone who dislikes a crush, a weekday daytime visit is the safer choice. The market opens at 11am Monday to Friday.

What Else Is On

The market has its own free live music on the Victoria Square stage: lunchtime and evening sessions Monday to Friday and all day at weekends, with local musicians from 12 noon to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. A short walk away, the Christmas in Cathedral Square craft market runs on exactly the same dates, Thursday 5 November to Thursday 24 December 2026, with stalls from independent traders in the region. The organiser says details of other Christmas events in the city, including a family walking trail, will follow.

Where to Stay

Anywhere in the city centre core is walkable to the stalls. The streets around New Street station, Colmore Row and Snow Hill, and the Paradise and Centenary Square side of Victoria Square are all a few minutes away on foot. The Bullring and Moor Street side is a slightly longer walk along New Street, which is itself lined with stalls.
