Getting There and Parking
By Train
Belfast has two central stations, both run by Translink. Belfast Grand Central Station is the main bus and rail hub and is where the Enterprise train from Dublin arrives. It is open from 04:30 to midnight and has Changing Places and accessible toilets on the ground floor. Lanyon Place station is on East Bridge Street, on the other side of the centre, with step-free access and lifts. Neither Translink nor the council publishes a walking distance from either station to City Hall, so we have not given one.
Park and Ride
Translink runs frequent dedicated buses into Belfast from five park and ride sites: Ballymartin, Sprucefield, Black's Road, Cairnshill and Dundonald. Parking at its park and ride sites is free. Cairnshill, on the Saintfield Road, has 725 spaces, is open round the clock and is served by Metro 7a and 7c. Dundonald, on the Upper Newtownards Road, has 517 spaces and its car park stays open until the last Glider at midnight. Translink's pages give no fares for these services and had no Christmas market arrangements on them when we looked.
| Site | Postcode | Spaces | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cairnshill | BT8 7SH | 725, with 12 accessible | Open 24 hours, unstaffed. Metro 7a and 7c |

Parking
Belfast City Council runs 15 charged car parks. The ones in the blocks south and west of City Hall are Little Victoria Street, Hope Street North, Charlotte Street and Cromac Street. They are small, so do not count on a space on a December Saturday. Most are free outside charging hours, which helps on Sundays and after 6pm, though Little Victoria Street and Hope Street North charge until 9pm. Payment is by RingGo or cash at the machine. Next to Grand Central Station, Translink lists two much larger private car parks: Go Park Great Northern (530 spaces) and Value Car Parks on Grosvenor Road (575 spaces).
| Car Park | Postcode | Spaces | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Little Victoria Street | BT2 7JH | 87, with 4 accessible | £1.20 an hour, £1.80 an hour after 4 hours, maximum £13.80; Monday to Saturday 8am to 9pm (October 2026) |
| Hope Street North | BT12 5EE | 41 | £1.20 an hour, £1.80 an hour after 4 hours, maximum £13.80; Monday to Saturday 8am to 9pm (October 2026) |
| Charlotte Street | BT7 1BG | 90 | 70p an hour, £1 an hour after 5 hours, maximum £7.50; Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm (October 2026) |
| Cromac Street | BT2 8JN | 99, with 1 accessible | 60p an hour, maximum £5.40; Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm (October 2026) |

Where to Stay
City Hall is in the middle of Belfast, so the whole city centre is within walking distance on flat streets. The Cathedral Quarter to the north, the Linen Quarter immediately to the south and the area around Great Victoria Street are all close. The Queen's Quarter and Botanic Avenue are a longer walk south. The Titanic Quarter is across the river and better reached by Glider or taxi.
