## Getting There and Parking

### By Train

Plymouth station, on North Road, is managed by Great Western Railway, which runs the London trains (around three hours, according to Visit Plymouth) and the Night Riviera sleeper. The station is about 0.4 miles north of Armada Way in a straight line (from the coordinates). The organiser's directions, on a page that still carried the 2025 details when we read it, call it a 10-minute walk: turn right out of the station onto Saltash Road, go up to North Cross roundabout, through the underpass and on towards the city centre. National Rail lists step-free access to all platforms, and lifts.

### Park and Ride

Plymouth City Council lists three park and ride sites, all free to park at, with single bus fares of up to £3 (October 2026). Milehouse, beside Home Park, is the quickest: Plymouth Citybus service 61 takes 14 minutes and runs every 30 minutes in the daytime Monday to Saturday and hourly on Sundays. The last buses back leave Royal Parade at 10.30pm on weekdays, 10.38pm on Saturdays and 6.45pm on Sundays. Coypool, off the A38 at Marsh Mills, has Stagecoach service 200 every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday and is locked from 10pm. The George, on Tavistock Road, has services 1, 1A and 42C. No 2026 Christmas offers had been published when we checked.

### Parking

The council multi-storeys closest to Armada Way and New George Street are Mayflower Street (East), Western Approach and Theatre Royal, with a small surface car park on Cornwall Street. The council's city centre car parks take cards or RingGo only, not cash. Blue Badge holders pay like everyone else but get an extra hour after their paid time runs out. Western Approach is the cheapest for a long visit: it is open 8am to 10pm and locked overnight from midnight. Shopmobility is on the lower ground floor of Mayflower Street (East). The organiser's access page was still last year's edition when we read it, written for the 2025 market on the Piazza, so treat the detail as a guide. It lists public toilets, including disabled toilets, on Armada Way and in Plymouth Market, and names three city centre cafes happy to act as chilled-out areas: Moments Cafe on New George Street, Coffee Time on Cornwall Street and The Treasury on Catherine Street. ### Quiet Times to Visit

The organiser's event information says the busiest times are Thursday nights and weekends. That page still showed the 2025 edition when we read it, but Thursday is again the late shopping night in 2026, open to 9pm, and Saturday runs to 7pm. A Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday visit, when the stalls close at 6pm, is the likelier quiet one.

The market has its own entertainment programme: Visit Plymouth lists live music and school and community choirs on most Thursdays, Fridays and weekends from 26 November to 20 December 2026, mostly from 4.30pm on weekdays and from late morning at weekends. Santa and his elves arrive on the Santa Bus for the day on Wednesday 9 December. The City Centre Christmas Lights Switch-On is earlier, on Thursday 12 November 2026, two weeks before the market opens.

The market is in the middle of the shopping centre, between the station and the Hoe. The city centre itself, the Hoe and the Barbican are all within about fifteen minutes on foot, and the streets around the station and North Hill are a similar distance to the north. Royal William Yard and Devonport are further out and need a bus or taxi.
