## Meeting Santa at Newcastle's Christmas Market

| Called | Santa Stories |
| --- | --- |
| When | 21 Nov to 24 Dec 2026 |
| Where | In a tipi in Newcastle's Christmas Village on Old Eldon Square, one of the market's sites |
| Price | From £10.50 a child; from £6.50 an adult. These are 'from' prices and a booking fee is added; every person going in needs a ticket, adults included |
| Booking | Booking advised. [Organiser's booking page](https://www.christmasvillagenewcastle.co.uk/santastories) |

This is a storytelling session of about 30 to 35 minutes with Father Christmas rather than a one-family grotto visit; children get a Nice List certificate, not a present, it is aimed at ages 2 to 8, the tipi takes wheelchairs and buggies, no dogs, and your own photos are not allowed during the story.

## Getting There and Parking

### By Train

Newcastle station, usually called Central Station, is on Neville Street and is managed by LNER. The organiser's travel advice is simply to arrive at Central Station. Grey's Monument is about 0.4 miles north of it in a straight line (worked out from the coordinates, not a walking distance), uphill along Grainger Street. The regional transport site lists CrossCountry, Grand Central, LNER, Lumo, Northern and TransPennine Express among the operators, with trains from London King's Cross, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Carlisle, Leeds and Manchester. The Tyne and Wear Metro also calls at Central Station and has a station named Monument.

### Where to Stay

The stalls run through Grainger Town, the compact centre of Newcastle, so anywhere between Central Station and Haymarket is a short walk. The area around the station is about ten minutes away on foot, uphill. The Quayside is also walkable but sits at the bottom of a steep bank, which matters on the way back. Jesmond and Gateshead are a few minutes away by Metro.
